Names vary depending on uses by tribes, government agencies, academic and research institutions, e.g., universities and museums. Also, some tribes identify with names of their native languages as well as names used by the Spanish (in parentheses), e.g., Salinan. Whenever possible, we will use the name currently recognized by the tribe and link to the official website. Otherwise, you may be directed to other educational links.
